Fresno, CA…California State Senator Andreas Borgeas (R-Fresno) will be meeting with constituents and community leaders over the next three days in Madera, Mariposa, Amador, Calaveras, and Stanislaus Counties. The 8th Senate District encompasses eleven counties and covers a vast geographic territory. The District Tour began in Oakhurst at a meeting with community, business, public safety, and elected officials. Key issues affecting the foothills in Madera County such as wildfire, insurance, education and public safety dominated the discussion.
“It is impossible to expect people to travel to Sacramento on a regular basis,” said Senator Borgeas. “I believe in government being made accessible to the people so they can help me learn about the most important issues impacting our community.”
“Folks in the Central Valley, foothills and mountain communities, both Democrats and Republicans, must unite to advance issues of common interest,” added Senator Borgeas. “The coastal powers have significant influence and political resources.”
Attendees at the Oakhurst meeting representatives from Assembly Member Frank Bigelow’s Office, Madera County Supervisor Tom Wheeler, Madera County Sheriff Jay Varney, representatives from the Coarsegold Chamber of Commerce, Sierra Tel, the Madera County Farm Bureau, Valley Children’s Hospital, Superintendent Glen Billington with Yosemite Unified School District, Rhonda Salisbury CEO of Visit Yosemite, and CHP Sergeant Ethan Jackson.
