San Andreas, CA…From Calaveras County OES…”Good morning Calaveras! We just finished the morning briefing, and bring back A LOT of good news! 1) We have received the weather “all-clear” for this current outage, and now that the sun is up, PG&E is out inspecting lines for power restoration! Now, the bad news: this wind event was serious, and we are concerned about being able to restore power completely before tomorrow’s outage. What that means is that some of the outlying areas of the county may not be restored before the next outage. Simply put, there are too many moving parts to know whether or not we’ll get 100% restoration before tomorrow. PG&E reports 6,000 Employees/Contractors in the field working on restoration.
2) The next PSPS event footprint has been dramatically reduced! We have not seen an updated map, however the total number of customers affected has been dramatically reduced. We should have an updated map around lunch time today.
3) Community Resource Centers opened at 8:00 AM this morning. Some of the Centers may be closed for the next event, depending on whether or not the community is in or out of the next outage area. Once we get an updated map, we’ll work with PG&E on the Centers and keep y’all up to date.
4) As restoration operations continue, just a little reminder that the PG&E folks in the field are working as fast as safety will allow to restore our power. They are not the decision makers about whether or not we lose power. They are humans helping us get power back on; please treat them with the kindness and respect our community is known for. Thanks very much for your support, feedback and resiliency!”
