2020 Murphys Irish Day Canceled Due to Coronavirus Concerns

Murphys, CA…From the Murphys Business Association…”The Murphys Business Association has made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s 28th annual Murphys Irish Day celebration. We are aware that this will be disappointing for many of you but we are committed to doing whatever we can to keep our community safe. Given the news yesterday that the number of confirmed cases nationwide and in California are rapidly increasing and the fact that two cases have been confirmed in Calaveras County, we feel this is the best option. People are what make our communities special so people have to be our first priority.

Get Updates From Our Social Media
Please watch our Facebook pages @MurphysCA and @MurphysIrishDay for additional information as we are planning on implementing measures to both minimize risk and manage the visitors that we know will be coming to see us that weekend, event or not. The Murphys Business Association will be placing handwash stations around town over the weekend of the 21st, distributing sanitizing supplies, and posting information from our Public Health Department in town.”

Support Event Businesses
We will also be posting ways in which you can support the organizations, businesses, vendors and entertainers who depend on events like this. If you are a vendor, we will be contacting you directly to arrange to refund your fees and obtain information about how people can shop with you online. If you are an entertainer or parade participant, we will be contacting you directly with additional information and options.

What’s Planned for the 21st
Now for the fun stuff, we are planning to run a shuttle to Ironstone Vineyards on the 21st as they have many activities planned for Saturday. We will also be extending the opportunity to purchase raffle tickets through the month of March. The Murphys Business Association will have an information booth on the street by the Native Sons Hall selling raffle tickets and providing information on Saturday the 21st. There will still be limited entertainment taking place in town but there will be no road closure, parade or vendors on the street.

We apologize for the inconvenience and hope that the Luck of the Irish finds you on Irish Day and everyday and we look forward to seeing you next year!
