Mokelumne Hill, CA…Yesterday afternoon a 69 year old Jackson man was driving a 2013 Kenworth in the Northbound traffic lane of SR-49 at an unknown speed. The driver due to his unsafe speed, traveled to the left of the solid double yellow center line while attempting to negotiate a sharp natural curve in the roadway to his right. V-1 then overturned. The cement truck then struck a steel guard rail. After the collision, The Kenworth came to rest on its right side facing in an Easterly direction off the roadway.
There was one-way traffic control, with two brief full closures, over a period of approximately 6 hours while V-1 was being recovered and to facilitate the repair of the guardrail.
The Driver was transported by ground ambulance to Sutter Amador Hospital then flown by Life Flight Helicopter to UC Davis for treatment of Major injuries.
Alcohol and/or Drug use is not suspected in this collision.
