Fair Board Cancels 2020 Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee! Some Events Rescheduled to Fall!

Angels Camp, CA…(Frogtown, USA)..On April 7, 2020, upon the recommendation of Calaveras County Public Health, the 39th District Agricultural Association Board of Directors voted unanimously to cancel the 2020 Calaveras County Fair & Jumping Frog Jubilee, scheduled for May 14-17. After much deliberation and weeks of discussion the board concurred with the County Health Officer. In addition to the Fair, the Capitol Jump, Junior Frog Jump and Government Center Jump are cancelled.

It was not an easy decision for the board of Directors. The annual Fair represents 5.2 million dollars in spending activity annually. The Fair is not only an economic engine but a community lifeline for the County. Historically the only other cancellation was due to the Great Depression in 1933.

The Fair feels it is imperative to provide an avenue for our exhibitors who are raising Market Animals. The Junior Livestock Committee is working with fair to plan a virtual junior livestock auction and other virtual competitions for our exhibitors. The fair will be releasing specific details in the near future.

We are planning a Hometown Hoedown for October 2nd through October 4th, 2020. We will be hosting our community events, Miss Calaveras, Saddle queen, Makers Fair, Buckaroo, Stampede events, carnival and derby.

Calaveras County has been through Fire and Flood together. We are a strong, diverse, determined and kind community. We will recover and be stronger than ever. See you in October!

Keep Calm and
Frog on…
