Playing Possum Didn’t Help Sonora Woman Escape Arrest

Jamestown, CA…From the Tuolumne Sheriff’s Dept…”Early Saturday morning, TCSO dispatch received a call from a passerby who reported a female, covered in a sheet, was breaking into a RV on the shoulder of Highway 108 in Jamestown. When a TCSO sergeant arrived, he noticed a “for sale” sign on the RV.

After further inspection, it appeared the RV was broken into and a female was seen moving throughout the RV. When the sergeant shined his flashlight into the window and announced his presence, the female, later identified as 30-year-old Elizabeth Cooper of Sonora, laid down on the sofa and pretended to be asleep.

Elizabeth ignored several commands to exit the RV. With the assistance of CHP – Sonora, the sergeant entered the RV to retrieve Elizabeth. Elizabeth continued to be uncooperative and spit into the sergeant face while she was being handcuffed.

The owner of the RV was eventually contacted, and Elizabeth was not supposed to be inside the RV. Elizabeth was arrested for burglary, tampering with a vehicle and battery against a Peace Officer.”
