Tuoulumne Search & Rescue Brought Female Hiker 700ft Back Up Embankment to Safety

Columbia, CA…From the Tuolumne Sheriff’s Office…Monday night, just after 8:30 pm, we received information a couple were hiking near the river on Italian Bar Road in Columbia when the female had slipped down the embankment and got stuck. Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Search & Rescue team (TCSAR) were activated in response. When TCSAR arrived, they determined the hiker was stuck approximately 700 feet down the embankment. TCSAR set up a technical rope system from the roadway, lowered a SAR member down to the hiker, and successfully hauled the hiker up to safety.

As always, strong work by our SAR team. You are appreciated!
