Valley Springs, CA…Monday night September 14 @ 6:30 p.m. We will meet at Veterans Hall; 189 Pine Street; Valley Springs, CA (Next to V.S. Elementary School) We will all walk together to the outdoor chapel built by Eagle Scout Mathew Couto to say a prayer and song. The outdoor chapel is located about 5 minute walk from the Vet’s Hall (across the Gazebo along Daphne Street.)

What to Bring: Financial Donations and homemade (or store-bought) snacks and food. (As per Red Cross request, please do not donate anything else.)

Who is Invited: All Scout Troops, all Cub Packs, and all Venture Crew of Calaveras County and surrounding areas AND EVERYONE that would like to make a donation or be included in a prayer and a moment of silence.

Boy Scout Troop 302 normally has their meetings Monday night at the Veteran’s Hall. The Vet’s Hall is now being used as an evacuation center. Instead of a meeting, Troop 302 is asking everyone to come with financial donations and/or baked goods or food to help all affected by the Butte Fire.

We ask everyone to gather at 6:30 p.m. in front of the Vets Hall. Then we will proceed to the outdoor chapel on Daphne Street. Boy Scout Brian Docekal will lead a short speech followed by prayer from the Boy Scout chaplain; followed by a moment of silence for all affected by the Butte Fire as well all tragedies that surround our world.

The Star Spangled Banner will be played by Boy Scout Slaine Miller and other Scouts from Troop 302 as we pass a bucket for donations to go to Red Cross. We will then present snacks and food to the evacuees.

Adventure Leadership Friendship

Cub Scout Troop 302…Boys ages 7(or 1st grade) to 10 grow through fun-filled activities, annual camping trips and friendships.
Boy Scout Troop 302…Guys ages 11 (or 6th grade) to 18 become leaders through life-long friendships, hiking in Yosemite, snow-cave camping & 7 day summer camp in the redwoods.
Venture Crew Troop 302…Guys AND Ladies ages 14 to 21 enter leadership through high-adventure activities such as cave rappelling, kayaking and search & rescue team-training.

Next Boy Scout Camping Trip: Winnemuca Lake Friday September 18.
It looks like the trip is happening, but we need to find out more about the Butte Fire.
