Murphys, CA…One of probably saddest things looking back on the 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic era will be the disruptions of our ritual, events and rites of passage such as parades, graduations & musical events. Last week however the 2020 Avery Middle School Graduation may end up being a highlight and a fond memory looking back.
Ironstone Amphitheater as many of you know was designed from the start to be a venue for the Ironstone Concours. So it was designed to be an automobile friendly venue. Last week those design characteristics made for a wonderful and memorable evening for the graduating 8th grade class from Avery Middle School.
So yes, families and friends had to be safely distanced in vehicles but they could listen the festivities on their FM radios and watch the ceremony just like a good old fashioned drive in movie.
When we stopped by to take a few photos it looked immediately like it could have been a scene from Disney/Pixar’s Cars franchise. The drive in ceremony looked like it was always meant to be that way.
Not sure about the future but this could be the start of a new tradition instead of the interruption of an old one.
Congrats Class of 2020
