Sonora, CA…From the Tuolumne Sheriff’s Office…”Today we were advised one of the inmates housed at the jail tested positive for COVID-19. The inmate was arrested for a felony crime and housed in our facility for less than 48 hours. The inmate was tested for COVID-19 during the second round of testing at our facility. The inmate was released from custody prior to the Sheriff’s Office receiving the inmate’s test results.
Upon release, the inmate’s information was provided to public health, to include all persons who were in contact with the inmate and have since been released, per the health officer’s track and trace protocols. Potentially exposed inmates who are still in our facility have been provided additional personal protective equipment (PPE) and are being housed separately per quarantine procedures.
We continue to work closely with public health and are taking necessary measures to include a third round of testing, for all people in our facility.”
