Amador County, CA – Amador County Public Health confirms an additional five COVID-19 cases since Friday’s COVID-19 update. Today, August 25, 2020, Amador County was removed from the County Data Monitoring List. The state will modify local restrictions if the local COVID-19 activity remains stable. Amador County Public Health will continue to monitor local case rate and test positivity and will notify the public when the State Health Officer Order is modified to allow more indoor activities.

The current active cases are linked to congregate living facilities, family transmission and community transmission. Prompt response to multiple care facility outbreaks were facilitated by the Mountain Valley Emergency Medical Services Agency Testing Task Force comprised of local fire department and EMS support. American Legion Ambulance, Buena Vista Rancheria Fire Department, and Ione Fire Department assigned staff to assist in timely response testing.

Of this week’s additional cases, two reside in Ione, 1 lives in Jackson, 1 lives in Sutter Creek, and 1 resides in Volcano. The new cases include 3 females and 2 males, 3 age 18-49, and 2 age 50-64. Three cases are currently hospitalized locally.

Total cases in Amador to date = 226 cases.
Total hospitalized in Amador County = 3 cases.
Total confirmed COVID-19 deaths = 14 deaths.
Total active cases = 15 cases.
Total cases released from isolation to date = 197 cases. Cases are released from isolation when they are no longer infectious.

Prevention measures are key to maintaining stability in Amador: Practice consistent precautions including 6-foot physical distancing and wearing masks or face coverings. Gathering should be avoided. Vulnerable, high risk individuals are encouraged to stay home as much as possible. This includes persons over age 65 and those with chronic health conditions that put them at higher risk for severe COVID-19. All should avoid mixing with others outside your household. Avoid unnecessary travel. Stay home if you are sick. Stay home if you have symptoms and are awaiting test results.
