Amador COVID-19 Update, Stating Today Amador Will Move to Weekly Releases

Amador County, CA…Amador County Public Health confirms five new cases of COVID-19 in Amador since Friday’s update. The new cases include 4 males and 1 female, 1 aged 18-49, 3 aged 50-64, 1 over the age of 65, 1 residing in Ione, 1 living in Jackson, 1 living in Pine Grove, and 2 in Sutter Creek.

Beginning today, September 15, 2020, Amador will issue COVID-19 updates on a weekly basis, scheduled for release each Tuesday. Amador continues to remain in the Red Tier on California’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy tier structure. The red tier classification allowed additional sectors to open inside with modifications and reduced capacity including: restaurants open indoors at 25% capacity; nail salons and other personal care services open inside with modifications; places of worship and cultural ceremonies; including funerals, operating indoors at 25% or 100 people, whichever is fewer; movie theaters open at 25% capacity or 100 people, whichever is fewer; and gyms and fitness centers open indoors at 10% capacity.

Guidance for each sector may be found on the state Industry Guidance to Reduce Risk website. Amador will need to continue to demonstrate COVID-19 stability to advance to less restrictive tiers. Practicing personal prevention measures are important and will contribute to Amador’s tier movement. Avoid mixing with others outside your household. Individuals can be contagious before symptoms of COVID-19 are present. Maintain 6-foot physical distance and wear a face covering.

Persons over age 65 and those with chronic health conditions that put them at higher risk for severe COVID-19 are encouraged to stay home as much as possible. Avoid unnecessary travel. Stay home if you are sick even with mild symptoms.

Over the last week, air quality concerns led to the intermittent closure of drive-through test site locations in Amador and surrounding counties. Indoor testing locations continue to be available both in Amador and within the neighboring counties of Calaveras, El Dorado, Sacramento, and San Joaquin.
