New Sidewalk & Bicycle Lanes Coming to Angels Camp

Angels Camp, CA…The City is starting construction of the Angels Camp Bicycle and Pedestrian Improvements Project! The project fills in gaps in the sidewalk and bicycle lanes on Main Street (SR‐49). The project includes two sections. The northern section is on the southbound side between SR‐4 and Stockton Road. The southern piece is on the northbound side between Bragg Street and Stanislaus Avenue.

Overall, the project adds 2,600 lineal feet of new sidewalks. The work includes widening of the pavement, bike lanes, curb and gutter, driveways and minor drainage improvements consistent with the Angels Camp Main Street Plan. Construction workers will be close to traffic so please slow down through the construction zone.

With a federal and state grant awarded to the City by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) and additional transportation funding from the Calaveras Council of Governments (CCOG), the project is fullyfunded for nearly $2,850,000. Thank you also to our project delivery partners ‐ Dewberry | Drake Haglan for the environmental documents and design plans; Interwest Consulting for obtaining property owner permissions and easements; and Destination Angels Camp for public outreach.

The Contractor, George Reed, Inc, has already started preparing the site for construction with electronic message boards, preconstruction surveys, utility markouts, potholing, erosion control measures and traffic control. The Contractor plans to officially begin construction on October 5th. They will complete the northern segment first, along with the earthwork for the northern portion of the southern segment. Depending on weather, construction will likely be suspended during winter and the southern segment completed in late spring next year.

Construction management will be provided by Dewberry | Drake Haglan. For questions or concerns during construction, please contact Resident Engineer, Dion Carr at dcarr@dewberry.com or 916.276.4721.
