Campo Seco, CA…On December 6th, 2020, at about 1100 AM, a Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputy was patrolling in the Campo Seco area when he observed a motorcycle traveling at about 70MPH, crossing over double lines to pass vehicles, and had no visible rear license plate. The driver passed through the stop sign at the intersection of Campo and Paloma Rd. without stopping. The deputy initiated a vehicle enforcement stop on the motorcycle driver by activating the emergency lighting and siren. The driver, later identified as Bradly B. Turner (33 years old from Sacramento) looked back at the deputy and gestured toward him. Turner then accelerated to about 75 MPH in an attempt to evade the deputy.
Turner attempted to evade capture by traveling down Paloma Rd to Hwy 26, onto Hwy 49, and into Amador County. While pursuing Turner, the deputy gave location and direction of travel updates to the Calaveras County Dispatch Center. The Dispatch Center was able to coordinate with allied agencies to position additional law enforcement units to assist.
Once in Jackson, officers from The California Highway Patrol assumed the lead in the pursuit. CHP was able to use air assets to track the suspect until he stopped at a gas station. Once he stopped, ground units attempted to contact him; however, Turner drove off. CHP continued to pursue Turner until he stopped at the intersection of Hwy 88 and Harney Rd. (San Joaquin County). Turner was arrested and booked into the Calaveras County Jail with a charge of 2800.2 CVC evading with a disregard for public safety (felony). His bail is $75,000.
The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank all allied agencies who assisted in the apprehension of Bradly Turner. While he accelerated to speeds of over 100 MPH, Turner was not faster than the radio waves (approximately 186,000 miles per second) that allowed for seamless law enforcement coordination.
