San Andreas, CA…On January 21, 2021, Sheriff DiBasilio and members of the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office began receiving Covid vaccinations. The Sheriff’s Office is receiving vaccinations to enhance the safety of first responders and the public. Deputy Sheriffs must enter homes during calls for service that include but are not limited to crimes in progress, medical aid calls, assisting paramedics and fire departments. Unfortunately Deputy Sheriff’s must also respond to calls of deceased persons involving unknown circumstances. The Sheriff’s Office is responsible for taking initial death reports.
In addition to the vaccination the Sheriff’s Office is issuing sanitizing products, face coverings and other related items as part of each deputy’s personal protective equipment.
Administrating the vaccination (in the attached photo) to Sheriff DiBasilio is Deputy Sydne Elam. In addition to her regular duties, Deputy Elam is a Tactical EMT for the Sheriff’s Office. To expedite the vaccinations Deputy Elam will be assisting the health department to increase the amount of vaccinations distributed per day.
