Local Physician Discusses His Battle with Covid

San Andreas, CA…We had the pleasure last week to interview Randy Smart M.D. who not only practices here locally but is the CEO of Mark Twain Health Care District. In the two episodes of “The Doctor is In” below he talks about not only how he and his colleagues are treating local Covid-19 patients but also talks about his own battle with the disease.

Dr. Randy Smart received a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology at University of California, Davis in 1980. He then attended medical school in Bethesda, Maryland graduating in 1985 and entering service in the US Air Force. Following completion of a three year residency in Internal Medicine, he served in various positions during a distinguished 24-year career.

In 2002 Dr. Smart started an internal medicine practice at Mark Twain hospital in San Andreas, CA. While at Mark Twain he directed the intensive care unit for 8 years, the cardiopulmonary rehab department, the cardiac testing department and the department of medicine.

In 2012 Dr. Smart was elected to the Mark Twain Health Care District Board and has championed various projects including the physician education forum and the TeleHealth consultation service. He currently is board certified in Internal Medicine and a Fellow in the American College of Physicians.
