California Department of Fish and Wildlife Mourns Loss of Warden DeMasters

Sacramento, CA…CDFW suffered a devastating loss on the evening of Feb. 21 when Warden Michael DeMasters lost his life in an off-duty motorcycle accident. Michael graduated from the Fish and Wildlife Law Enforcement Academy in 2018 at only 21 years of age and soon returned to his home in Calaveras County where he served as the local wildlife officer. With the extremely close-knit nature of the Calaveras County community and first responders within it, Michael was well known and loved.

Our hearts go out to his family, his squad and the community he served. We owe Michael a huge debt of gratitude for his service in protecting the people and the precious resources of this state.

Thank you for your service Warden DeMasters, you will be deeply missed.
