Born in Hawaii, raised in a military family, and lived throughout the United States, Merita is committed to Calaveras County as home. She moved to District 3 in 1987 as the PG&E Mother Lode Manager. She is a member of local organizations from White Pines Park to Murphys Community Club, and is on the board of the Calaveras Community Foundation and the Calaveras Winegrape Alliance.
Merita is a graduate of the University of San Francisco with a Bachelor of Science and a Secondary Teaching Credential. Her daughter, Brianna, is a graduate of Avery Middle School and Bret Harte High School.
As a prior owner of her own business, she is committed to buying local, from shoes to refrigerators. She is a fan of Calaveras arts, culture, Arnold Rim Trail, music, and wine.
As a tenured member of District 3, Calaveras Board of Supervisors, she has a view of issues and solutions that ensure county government is effective and accountable. Merita is fiscally conservative, a balanced decision maker, non-partisan, and continues to be a respected steward of Calaveras County.
She believes that the District 3 residents’ views and concerns are a priority, and balances her decisions with their input.
