Kennedy Meadows, CA…District 10 expects to open State Route 108/Sonora Pass at noon today. Crews have worked diligently to remove snow, debris and repair the roadway to help ensure motorists’ safety. We thank them and District 9 for their efforts and wish you safe travel! District 10 continues to make progress on the mountain passes.

Right now, crews are performing critical roadway repairs to help ensure motorists’ safety prior to opening State Route 108/Sonora Pass and Route 4/Ebbetts Pass for the spring and summer seasons.

Crews are finalizing repaving work (similar to this photo from 2019) on Sonora Pass, and we expect to make an announcement soon about the seasonal opening of that route.

Ebbetts Pass has significant repaving work needed before we can reopen the route for the season. Crews are expected to begin this work the week of May 10.

District 10 expects to have Sonora Pass open by Mother’s Day weekend and Ebbetts Pass open prior to Memorial Day weekend, if not much sooner.

Route 89/Monitor Pass opened on April 9, 2021.
