Markleeville, CA….Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care contacted Alpine County on Sunday evening (7/25/21) after receiving a report from a Markleeville resident regarding an injured black bear cub in the Markleeville area. The injuries to the animal were a result of the Tamarack Fire and the mother bear could not be located. As a result, the Lake Tahoe Wildlife Care staff successfully located and transported the bear to their facility in South Lake Tahoe. Currently, the bear cub is recovering and will remain under the care of LTWC until it has been fully rehabilitated.

Much of the wildlife in these areas have lost their homes and their lives. With the discovery of bear cub, Tamarack, we have hope of find more wildlife in need of our help. Please be aware and keep a watchful eye out for any wildlife that may be injured or suffering.
