Bear Valley, CA…Fireline was completed around the fire yesterday and is currently holding at an estimated 22 acres. Frequent spotting in heavy down fuels and standing snags combined with limited access by boat or aircraft is making containment challenging. Fire crews and helicopters will drop water and work towards securing the perimeter today.

***HOBART FIRE UPDATE*** 8/10/2021
Shifting winds caused the fire to spot across completed fireline yesterday increasing the size to 12-15 acres in the Carson-Iceberg Wilderness. Numerous snags and heavy down fuels makes suppression challenging. Three fire crews and two helicopters will be working today to suppress the fire.

If you are recreating near Spicer Lake, you may see a smoke column from the Hobart Fire discovered this morning near the south side of Spicer Reservoir. Fire ground crews and air craft are responding to fully suppress fire.
