Soulsbyville, CA…Early this morning at approximately 12:30 AM, TCSO Deputies initiated a traffic stop on a stolen red 1992 Honda Accord sedan at the intersection of Soulsbyville Rd. at Willow Springs Dr. in Soulsbyville. The Honda was reported stolen out of Ceres, CA. The driver failed to yield and lead the TCSO Deputies on an 8.6 mile pursuit through Willow Springs, east on Hwy 108, to Confidence Rd and onto Mt. Provo Rd. The driver of the Honda drove up an old Cal Fire dozer line and TCSO Deputies terminated the pursuit on Mt. Provo Rd. due to unsafe driving conditions. The driver continued driving off road.
At approximately 3:00AM, a TCSO Deputy driving on Cherokee Rd in Tuolumne, spotted a fire on Mt Provo. TCSO Deputies, CHP, and Cal Fire responded to the area in four wheel drive vehicles and followed the trail left by the Honda. They located the stolen Honda which had been burned. No suspects were located near the Honda during the search. Cal Fire will remain on scene through the morning extinguishing the brush and vehicle fire. CHP Officers will recover the stolen vehicle after the fire is extinguished.
