Angels Camp, CA…Local high school students from all either public, private or home schools are invited to participate each year in the Poetry Out Load competition presented by the Calaveras Arts Council with the support of the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Poetry Foundation and the California Arts Council. Students are encouraged to learn about great poetry and must have their pieces memorized and recite them in the competition. This year’s finalists included: Sage Miller, Anastacia Sharp, Kristina Stensland, Rebecca Hungerford, Carson Blodgett and Franklin Benevedes. This year’s champion, Rebecca Hungerford (center) will be going on to compete at the state Poetry Out Load competition.
