A Very Scary Moment for Firefighters Yesterday on Hwy 108 in Twain Harte Area

Twain Harte, CA…Yesterday around the 1pm hour, CAL FIRE TCU/TCFD engine 4475 and Twain Harte CSD Fire responded to a two vehicle collision at the west entrance to Twain Harte. When we respond to incidents in the roadway we traditionally park our engines for what we call “a bank shot” to protect the patients, the firefighters, and the rest of the scene.

After the Twain Harte CSD Fire firefighters positioned the fire engine to protect the scene, they began rendering care with the CAL FIRE crew and shortly thereafter heard the loud and scary sound of a vehicle skidding and the sound of a vehicle hauling another vehicle on a car trailer colliding into the side of the fire engine. The engine parked like this likely saved lives.

There were two injuries in the original incident and a other injury in the subsequent accident from the pickup truck. No firefighters were injured.
