Jamestown, CA…On November 25, 2022., at approximately 10:40am, a 67-year-old male from Modesto was riding a bicycle on the south shoulder of eastbound State Route 120, west of Tulloch Dam Road. At the same time, 22-year-old Leanda Lopez of Oakdale was driving a 2005 Subaru eastbound on State Route 120, west of Tulloch Dam Road in the number 2 lane at approximately 55-60 miles per hour, approaching the rider.

The rider turned left from the shoulder into the number 2 lane, directly into the path of Ms. Lopez’s vehicle. Ms. Lopez swerved to the right to avoid the crash as the rider swerved back to the right as well. As a result, Ms. Lopez’s vehicle struck the bicycle and the rider was ejected and landed on the ground.

Life saving measures were attempted, however the rider succumbed to his injures at the scene. The rider was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash and drugs and/or alcohol are not suspected to be a factor. The identity of the rider is being held pending family notification.
