San Andreas, CA…Our Public Works snow removal staff works diligently throughout the winter season to clear snow and perform ice-scraping activities throughout the high country. Public Works has received several reports regarding icy roadways. Please be aware of the following information related to travel during snowy and icy conditions:
Vehicles are required to have tire chains or traction control devices during operation on County roads per Calaveras County Ordinance No. 2519.
Sanding may take place to maintain main roads and school bus routes, when feasible.
Ice-scraping operations only take place during daylight hours when temperatures are higher, and snow becomes slushy.
Calaveras Code Section 10.28 “Vehicles Parked During Snow Removal” prohibits parking on the pavement during snow removal operations. Vehicles parked within the right-of way will be towed. The right of way extends beyond edge of pavement, generally 5 to 10 feet.
