Hey Good People!! The Grizz Bowl Opens Today! Merry Christmas!!

Bear Valley, CA…Hey Good People! GRIZZ IS READY FOR YOU!!! The Grizz Bowl is scheduled to open TODAY @ 9:30am!

Temps have rocketed up overnight as the low was 36F at 1am, rising to 41F by 2am and is currently parked at 38F as the day begins to wake. A mostly sunny day is expected with a high of 46F and a lite ENE wind up to 7mph or so. Christmas Day looks to be a bit warmer with 48F as the projected high, so come on up and enjoy the Holiday weekend ahead of the oncoming storm system slated to arrive Monday.

Now, for next weeks weather system………..warm air aloft will bring rain to the area Monday with a chance of snow falling, yet snow elevation levels are expected to be high initially, coming in around 8500′. Surface gradients will also tighten up bringing winds to the area in the 15-25mph range through Monday then thing ramp up Tuesday as the gradient tightens even more with Tuesday night possibly gusting into 50-70mph range. Heavy snowfall looks to begin late Tuesday as a cold front presses through dropping snow levels down to the 5500′ elevation for a bit then rising slightly before dropping back to to around 5000′ Wednesday morning. Snow totals are still in flux as timing of all of this is struggling as per this mornings ensemble runs. I’ll leave snow totals out for now as it is currently anywhere from 14-40″ expected through Wednesday. An active pattern will remain into next weekend with snow shower activity slated Thursday into Saturday at this time.

As Howard the Dweeb put it yesterday, “Interesting to note that the AR on the central coast is being fed by not one, but two streams… Old WX man saying….Don’t fool with an AR whom has forked transport”.

Looking farther out, some discussions are happening about January and whether it may or may not be a dry month.
There is some support for an decent event mid-January but all the stars need to align with over water trajectory, ocean temps and the MJO possibly making its way farther East in the Pacific to enhance snow production. Check out the Dweebs Mammoth Weather for the 411 on that possibility as it’s a good read.

Stay tune over the next week as the forecast will become a bit more informational as to what will truly happen during that time.

Peace Out,
Mattly
