Calaveras County to Remain at Level 2 Emergency While Road Crews Continue Clean Up Efforts & Prepare for Next Storms

San Andreas, CA…At 11AM this morning Calaveras County and the City of Angels Camp determined it was necessary to maintain the Emergency Operations Center at a Level 2 response due to continued concerns of flooding from upcoming storms. At 2PM on December 31, 2022, the Calaveras County Office of Emergency Services proclaimed a Local State of Emergency. Current road closures include HWY 12 at Evans Rd., Valley Springs due to downed AT&T lines and there is no estimated date of reopening; Baldwin Ct. (major damage), Valley Springs; Salt Springs, Copperopolis; all of Gwin Mine Rd., Paloma; Patricia and Moran Rds., Avery; Hawver and Jesus Maria Rds. Mountain Ranch; Messing Rd. to HWY 12, Burson; Hunt Rd. Jenny Lind/Valley Springs; White Ln. @ HWY 26 (major damage), Valley Springs. Please be advised that the culvert failures along Baldwin Ct. and White Ln. in Valley Springs will require major repair and the timeline is undetermined at this time. Calaveras County Public Works will provide future updates. Additionally, Caltrans will be conducting culvert repairs along HWY 4 by Forest Meadows.

The emergency evacuation shelter has closed.
A limited amount of emergency evacuation space is available for small animals (dogs and cats) at the San Andreas Animal Control Shelter at 901 Jeff Tuttle Dr., San Andreas. Please call 209-754-6866 to make arrangements. Large animals can be taken to the Fairgrounds. Domestic pets will be accepted at the Fairgrounds by going to the Floriculture Building, small animals can go to the Swine Barn, and horses can be taken to the beef wash racks area.
The County is currently assessing water damage to residential structures and commercial buildings as a result of this winter storm. The county asks that those residents that return home and find water damage please contact the Sheriff’s Office non-emergency line at 209-754-6500. Businesses that have suffered water damage can contact Calaveras County Economic & Community Development Department at 209-754-6742.

Sandbag locations: Please limit the number of sandbags to 10 per resident and remember to bring your own shovel.

Angels Camp, sand and sandbags are available at 200 Monte Verda (behind the Police Department)
Calaveras Connect buses are continuing to run and residents who need assistance can call the Sheriff’s Office at 209-754-6500.

PG&E has reported that 1503 customers are without power in West Point, Wilseyville, and Glencoe with estimated restoration at 10PM January 1, 2022.
