Sonora, CA…On September 24, 2023, at approximately 3:40am, 30-year-old Leah Doucette of Turlock was driving a 2004 GMC pickup eastbound on State Route 120 near Rushing Hill Lookout along with a 42-year-old male passenger from Salida. Ms. Doucette allowed her vehicle to turn to the left causing it to leave the roadway. She tried to correct the vehicle by steering to the right to return to the roadway. This caused her to lose control of the vehicle and it overturned, coming to rest on its right side.

Ms. Doucette was ejected from the vehicle as it rolled over and sustained major injuries. Her passenger sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Ms. Doucette was taken to Memorial Medical Center for treatment. While at the hospital, she was placed under arrest for felony charges of driving under the influence and was released to Memorial Medical Center.

This crash is still under investigation and the identity of the passenger is being held pending family notification.
