Arnold Water Main Replacement Contract Awarded

San Andreas, CA…The Calaveras County Water District Board of Directors awarded the construction contract for the Reach 3A water transmission pipeline replacement project in Arnold at its meeting Wednesday, April 6. This pipeline was originally installed in 1965 and is being replaced due to its age, poor condition and high frequency of failures and repairs that pose risks to public safety and property. The expected life of the new pipeline is 75 years.

“I am absolutely thrilled to see the project get started,” said CCWD District 3 Director Bertha Underhill. “This new pipeline will be a wonderful asset for the community in the years to come. Thank you to all the staff members who worked so hard to make this project a reality.”

The Board awarded the $4.1 million construction contract to T&S Construction of Sacramento, which was the lowest bidder. This project will replace about 20,000 feet of 12-inch diameter transmission pipeline that run from the Arnold Cal-Fire Station along Highway 4 to Blagen Road and terminating at CCWD’s sawmill tank above White Pines.

Funding for this project is a combination of a $1.378 million grant from the United States Department of Agriculture, a $2.622 million loan from USDA and $1.3 million in local matching funds from CCWD’s Capital Renovation and Replacement fund. Construction will begin in May and the project is expected to be complete in November.

The District will hold a community meeting in late April or early May to provide residents with an overview of the project and its impact on the area. CCWD will provide regular project updates on www.ccwd.org,www.facebook.com/calaveraswaterdistrict and information will be available via phone at (209) 754-3543.
