Vallecito, CA…A 69 year old Murphys man was driving his 1997 Chrysler Sebring in the Eastbound traffic lane of State Route 4 at approximately 50MPH. A 73 year old Angels Camp man was driving his 2008 Dodge Pickup in the Westbound traffic lane of State Route 4 at approximately 55MPH. The Murphys man due to his inattention to the roadway in front of him, allowed his vehicle to travel to the left of the solid double yellow center line. The Chrysler then struck the pickup. After the collision, the traveled to the left, off the north side of the roadway, and struck a concrete wall before coming to rest on its wheels facing in a Northerly direction. The Dodge pickup overturned and came to rest on its wheels facing in an Easterly direction blocking the eastbound traffic lane.

The Angels Camp man was flown from the scene by helicopter for treatment of moderate injuries and the roadway was blocked for approximately 1 hour for scene investigation and clean-up.
