San Andreas, CA…The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce that Deputy Michael Varni has completed the Field Training Program. He was hired by the Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office in November of 2023 as a lateral Deputy with previous law enforcement experience. His prior experience allowed him to join the team seamlessly and quickly adapt to the community’s unique demands of law enforcement.

During his field training, Deputy Varni worked alongside experienced officers, enhancing his skills and preparing to tackle the array of calls for service. His training in Calaveras County and prior experience have equipped him well to operate as a solo Deputy Sheriff, ready to serve and protect the community with dedication and professionalism.

Deputy Varni is not only enthusiastic about his new role, but he also fills us with immense pride. He is all set to commence his first assignment within the patrol division. We are confident in his abilities and proud to have him on our team, knowing he will contribute positively to our mission.
