New Events At The Calaveras County Fair – Fun Fair Events ~ By Mary Payne

Angels Camp, CA…The Junior Livestock Auction Committee would like to let the community know of three new fun events at our county fair. Friday May 20,216 two of the events will be held in the Tower Pavilion. The Livestock Evaluation Team Competition will be held following the Replacement Heifer Sale. This competition will provide the opportunity for teams of exhibitors ages 9 to 13 and 14 and older to evaluate market animals. They will be judging beef, swine, sheep, and market goat.

Adult Master Showmanship will start at 5 pm also on Friday. There are three levels of expertise for the event: Novice (never done it, don’t know a thing), Intermediate (done it, but it’s been awhile), and Expert (I’m an expert). Adults 18 years and older can be nominated by fair exhibitors to show. Nomination fee is $10.00. A nominee may buy out of the show for $20.00. Or buy an insurance policy to opt-out of any level for the 2016 fair for $50.00. Expert level is by sponsored fee of $100.00 each. A trophy buckle will be awarded to the highest Expert showman/woman. Proceeds go to the Junior Livestock Committee to support the shows. Each adult will show: beef, swine, sheep, and market goat. : A fun time should be had by all.

Saturday May 21, 2016 9 am in the Tower Pavilion for the first time Pew Wee Showmanship. This is open to all comers ages 5 to 8. One my show: rabbit, fish, pet rock, frog or toad, pygmy goat, cavies (guinea pig), poultry and water fowl. If entering any animal not already on the fair grounds, check in at the fair office upon arrival with your pet. Sign-up is at 8:30 am, parent/guardian must accompany the exhibitor.
