Sonora, CA…Firefighting crews from the Stanislaus National Forest are currently responding to two confirmed wildfires as well as two smoke checks/possible fires. In the last 24 hours, there have been 289 lightning strikes with 72 confirmed ground contacts.
Currently Responding
Kitchen Fire – west of Union Reservoir, fire is sized up at 30 ft x 30 ft burning in timber and brush, one-foot flame lengths with slow rate of spread.
Trout Fire – off of Forest Service Road 3n20, North of Hull Creek/Trout Creek OHV area, sized up by Helicopter 517 as a 30 ft x 30 ft grid, smoldering with no active flames.

Dry Fire – initially reported by the Mount Elizabeth lookout, described as small white column with a slow rate of spread. Located on a ridgeline above Dry Meadow, near the Stanislaus National Forest Dry Meadow Fire Station.
Fisher Fire – initially reported by the Mount Elizabeth lookout and in similar location to Dry Fire. Resources in route to make initial size up.
With the recent lightning storms and new storms predicted, the possibility for additional fires remains elevated and the forest will remain vigilant in their detection and suppression.
