Stanislaus National Forest Announces Seasonal Hiring for Upcoming Recreation Season

Sonora, CA…The Stanislaus National Forest is hiring up to 37 temporary/seasonal employees for the upcoming recreation season and is encouraging residents to apply. The application portal on USAJobs will open on February 20, 2026, and close March 3, 2026.

“Seasonal employees are critical in our efforts to keep our campgrounds, trails, and recreation sites open, safe and welcoming for visitors,” said Jason Kuiken, Stanislaus National Forest Supervisor. “These seasonal positions are often the entry point for many folks into a natural resources career, and we are excited to have folks join our team.”

The Stanislaus is recruiting for a variety of roles in recreation and active management across all three forest districts in developed recreation, Off Highway Vehicle-Dispersed Recreation, Wilderness Ranger, Fee Collections, River Ranger, Visitor Services, and Interpretive Rangers. All the position duties include: visitor engagement and education, resource protection, and facility maintenance.

These positions are in addition to seasonal fire hire events, already underway. The Stanislaus National Forest will host several in-person open house/hiring events supporting this hiring push, more information concerning these events will be made available soon.
