Harlan Michael Kuntz Sr 1963 – 2016

Valley Springs, CA…Harlan Michael Kuntz Sr., 53, of Valley Springs, Ca, suddenly passed away at his home on August 10, 2016. Harlan “Harley” was survived by his wife Rhonda, and children: Son, Harlan “Michael” Kuntz Jr. of Valley Springs, and daughters: Arielle (Zach) Winfield of Mokelumne Hill, and Danyelle (Clarence) Hammick of Valley Springs. Harlan also had three grandchildren: Arik Winfield, George Thomas Hammick, and Lillian Rose Kuntz. Mother, Lillian Kuntz of Valley Springs. Sisters: Michelle (Jack) Newby, Carlotta (Rick) Coss and brother, Darryl (Kathy) Kuntz, and in-laws: the McClean family. Preceded in death by his father George Kuntz in 1998 and brother Gary Kuntz in 2015. He had five nieces, three nephews, four great nieces, nine great nephews, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Harley was born in Richmond, Ca on May 23rd, 1963. In 1969, the family moved to the Jenny Lind area of Valley Springs, in 1977, the family moved to Clements, where he attended Lodi High, and graduated in 1981. He then went to work for Fayette in Tracy, Ca. In 1987 he married and moved to back to the Valley Springs area with his wife Rhonda. In 1990, he joined his father’s business, Valley Springs Electric. In 1997, he went to work for Mueller Electric until the day of his passing. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and all outdoor sports. He especially enjoyed his time at the racetrack being a member of the pit crew for Bolin Builders race team, where they traveled the west coast on the weekends. Some of his fondest memories was coaching the Junior Redskins in 2011 and 2012. He loved cooking for various events for family and friends whenever he could. His wife and children referred to him as Big Bear, and was often times called a “gentle giant”. His laugh was contagious and his smile was beaming, his hugs were welcomed, and always had a kind word for everyone and a helping hand for those who needed it.

A Celebration of Life will be held October 1st, 2016 at the Burson Lions Club at 1pm. Dinner will be provided with a pot luck side and dessert bar.
