Vallecito, CA…A 40 year old Coarsegold Woman was driving her Honda westbound on Hwy 4 at approximately 65 miles an hour. A 75 year old Arnold man and his 82 year old female passenger also from Arnold were driving eastbound on Hwy 4 at approximately 55 mph. She allowed her Honda to cross over the double yellow lines and enter the eastbound lane. The Arnold man was unable to avoid the collision. The Ford came to rest blocking the eastbound lane. The Honda traveled off the north shoulder and down an embankment.

The Coursegold woman was arrested at the scene for driving under the influence of alcohol. She was subsequently flown to Memorial Hospital in Modesto with moderate injuries. The Arnold couple sustained minor injuries and sought their own treatment.

There was also another non-injury, property damage incident in the traffic backup created by the first collision.
