Public Notice: Qualified Persons Invited To Apply For Resource Conservation District Board

San Andreas, CA…NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors encourages interested and qualified persons to apply for membership to the following special district board: Resource Conservation District
The RCD was approved by the Board of Supervisors and county voters to control runoff, prevent soil erosion, enhance water distribution, improve agricultural land capabilities, and conserve water, soil, air, and habitat and assisting residences and landowners with conservation practices. The RCD will be an independent special district.

Per state law, the qualifications and requirements for applicants are as follows: Applicants must be registered voters and must either (1) reside within and own property within the district, or (2) be a formally designated agent of a resident landowner within the district. Applicants cannot be directly or indirectly interested in the sale of equipment, materials, or services to the RCD and must file a Statement of Economic Interest (Form 700) within 30 days of appointment, leaving office and annually. Directors will also be required to complete Code of Ethics training to meet the requirements of AB1234, every two years, take an oath of office and shall adhere to open meeting laws. RCD directors will be volunteers and receive no compensation other than expenses pursuant to Public Resources Code

Section 9303, which would be charged to the RCD.
The initial Board of Directors will consist of seven directors who will be appointed at large by the Calaveras County Board of Supervisors for staggered four-year terms, as provided by Public Resources Code Section 9202 and LAFCo Resolution 2015-0005. Per Public Resources Code 9305, at its initial meeting (to be scheduled by the Board of Supervisors) the RCD Board will determine by lot which three of the seven directors shall serve an initial two-year term.

Applications for membership must be obtained by calling 209/754-6370 or through the Calaveras County Administrative Office, Board of Supervisors Division, 891 Mtn. Ranch Rd, San Andreas, CA 95249. Completed applications must be returned to the Clerk of the Board of Supervisors at the above address by 5:00 PM, September 19, 2016. If no applications are received by the advertised deadline or applications are withdrawn, do not meet requirements, are invalid, etc., the County will continue to accept applications beyond the deadline until the vacancy is filled.
