Mother Lode Jewish Community Plans Fall Events

Jamestown, CA…On Sunday, October 23rd the MLJC will be celebrating the end of Sukkot as well as Simchat Torah, which occurs on the Jewish calendar just 2 days later, at a potluck brunch gathering in Jamestown. MLJC member Rabbi Andra Greenwald will share the history and traditions of these two holidays with the group and, after brunch, two ceremonies linked to them will take place. This will be followed by two events in November, a free seminar on Jewish Life Cycles that will take place in Murphys on Sunday, Nov. 13th and a Brush and Cork painting party happening on November 20th in Sonora. Both are pot-luck brunch affairs. Rabbi Andra Greenwald will lead the seminar and Sonora artist, Judy Grossman will run the art class, which takes place at her downtown Sonora area studio. This is a “grown-up paint by numbers” (without numbers) art class, painting a “Tree of Life”. The cost is $45 and the deadline to register is November 10th. Also, be sure and calendar Thursday evening , Dec. 29th for the MLJC Hanukkah party which will be held in Murphys.
