San Andreas, CA… “Do not let kindness and truth leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.” Proverbs 3:3.
Kindness is something we tend to look over until we are the ones in need of it the most. Ellen Tower understood that simple fact better than most. She had the ability and desire to give so freely without any hesitation or pride. Towers greatest joy was found in giving to others.
Ellen Belle Tower, 87, of Copperopolis went to be with the Lord on Monday, September 10, 2016 in San Andreas, California.
Tower was born August 1, 1929 in Stockton, California and lived in Calaveras County for 60 years.
Tower married Howard Tower on December 25, 1958. Howard passed away on April 9, 2003.
Tower was a co-owner of Calaveras Telephone Company.
Tower was a member of Union Congregational Church in Angels Camp and served on the Mark Twain Hospital Board. She was a member of the California Telephone Association marketing committee. She was a 4-H leader and she was a member of the Eastern Stars.
Tower was the definition of a mom. She was strong, kind, caring, humble, gentle, wise, understanding beyond belief, loving, charismatic and stubborn. She loved her kids more than anything.
One of Towers greatest joys was being a grandmother to her six grandchildren. All of her grandchildren have several wonderful memories with her. Her grandchildren and children agree that family was the most important thing to her.
Tower’s children Mary Kimura, James Tower and John Tower, all of Copperopolis, survive her. Her sister Ada Hulbert of Manteca, California, and her six grandchildren also survive her.
The celebration of life will be October 22, 2016, at 1 p.m. at the Copperopolis Armory.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Christian Family Learning Center in memory of Ellen Tower. P.O. Box 880, Angels Camp, CA 95222.
Towers favorite saying after a visit was always, “Come again when you can stay longer.” We can all give this saying new meaning knowing the next time we see her; we will be able stay and visit forever.
