Manzanita Arts Emporium Winter Classes Sparkle With Inspiration

Angels Camp, CA…Celebrating its first year as Angels Camp’s creative community center, Manzanita Arts Emporium offers new classes that appeal to the diversity of literary and visual arts interests in our region. MAE’s commitment to its ongoing support for the region’s arts development has resulted in a winter calendar of events and classes.

Watercolor artist Selma Sattin offers an art class especially for young people. In Animal Watercolor Class for Youth – Ages 7 and Up, students will work with the color palette of watercolors, taking home new skills to apply, and a finished painting. Students bring their favorite watercolor sets and brushes, or Selma can provide them. Presented on Thursday, December 29th, at the cost of $15, the class is limited to 8 participants, so call 209-728-6171 soon to reserve a space.

Linda Lee, expert web designer from the Bay Area, brings her stimulating presentation to MAE on Saturday, January 14, 2017, from 2 to 5pm. WordPress Boot Camp, her website building class, will free participants from “tech anxiety” to make the most of ever-changing technology. The cost is $70, and since class size is limited to 8 participants, call soon to reserve a space.

The deadline for writer and artist submissions to the Out of the Fire blog is on Sunday, January 15, 2017. The blog, whose inspiring, poignant entries can be accessed through a link on manzapress.com, is the online collection of community contributions that respond to the Butte Fire and celebrate the wild resilient beauty of this region. The blog entries will be published as a print anthology to coincide with April National Poetry Month. Contributors can follow the guidelines listed on the website and submit to manzanitawp@gmail.com or manzablogsubmissions@gmail.com

Sally Kaplan presents Film Techniques for Writers: a Four-Session Course, Thursday evenings, 6 to 8 pm, February 16, 23 and March 2, 9, 2017. Bringing to the classes her work as owner of Backcountry Pictures Inc, in Murphys with her husband David Vassar, instruction, discussions and assignments will motivate participants to put into practice film techniques that inspire and improve their own writing. Open to writers at all levels, reserve a spot by February 1, 2017 with a $50 deposit toward the $200 total fee.
