Folsom, CA…Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation is celebrating $34,732 worth of life-saving equipment grants awarded to West Point Fire Protection District and Folsom Police Department.In 2005, the Firehouse Subs founders established the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation with the mission of providing funding, life-saving equipment, and educational opportunities to first-responders and public safety organizations. Through the non-profit 501(c)(3), Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has given more than $23 million to hometown heroes in 46 states, Puerto Rico and Canada, including more than $510,000 in California.

The West Point Fire Protection District received a fire engine equipped with wildland suppression equipment worth $30,832. The department’s previous engine was lost while fighting the Butte Fire in 2015 that burned more than 70,000 acres in California. The awarded engine will help ensure the department is prepared to provide assistance in future wildfires, which is increasingly important as the state experiences severe drought conditions.

The Folsom Police Department received three automated external defibrillators (AEDs) worth $1,300 each as a part of the Foundation’s 1,000 AED Gift Campaign, commemorating Firehouse Subs’ 1000th restaurant opening. The awarded AEDs will help ensure officers are prepared to provide medical assistance if an individual goes into cardiac arrest.

Each restaurant recycles leftover, five-gallon pickle buckets, available to guests for a $2 donation to the Foundation. Donation canisters on register counters explain the non-profit’s mission and collect spare change, while the Round Up Program allows guests to “round up” their bill to the nearest dollar. All funds raised benefit the Foundation.
