Bret Harte FFA Shines At The Sectional FFA Competition

Angels Camp, CA…On Wednesday, January 18 eleven Bret Harte FFA members traveled to Linden High School to compete in the Delta Cal Sectional FFA speaking contest. These competitors participated in four different contests against eighteen other FFA Chapters.

Representing Bret Harte for the Job Interview contest were seniors Bailey Van Zant and Maddie Walraven, who placed fifth high individual overall. We had six Freshman members compete in the Best Informed Greenhand contest. This contest tested their knowledge of the National FFA Organization. The team consisted of Pearl Rollings, Madelyn Ruff, Jocelyn Gomez, Liliann Tudbury, Jonah Cardoza and Samantha Tate. The team took first place overall and Jocelyn Gomez was first high individual! After taking the Best Informed Greenhand test, three freshman participated in the Creed speaking contest. These members were Jocelyn Gomez, Kailianna Mills & Jonah Cardoza and they recited, from memory, the five paragraphs of the FFA Creed. Lastly, Andrea Diep and Kennedy Cooper competed their way through the Impromptu Speaking Contest. In this contest, contestants have one minute to prepare for a thirty second to two minute speech on a topic that they chose out of a hat. Kennedy Cooper placed fourth high individual and will be representing Bret Harte FFA at the regional contest in February. Congratulations to all competitors and we are very proud of all of the participants! It just goes to show that with sweat, determination and hard work our FFA members dreams can come true!
