San Andreas, CA…The Calaveras County Department of Public Works announces completion of the process required by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to identify hazard burnt trees from the Butte fire area. These are the 8,400 trees that have the potential to fall and impact public roadways. They are located within the County right-of-way and on adjacent private property.
Additionally, compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) has been received and depending on weather conditions removal and processing of those hazardous trees will begin January 30, 2017. Crews will start work on Mountain Ranch Road and Railroad Flat Road. Travelers should expect delays during daylight hours with intermittent road closures and one way traffic.
