Sonora,CA…Sonora Regional Medical Center’s Hospice of the Sierra raised over $15,000 at the 6th Annual “Dinner with a Doc,” a benefit dinner with all proceeds benefitting patients who cannot afford hospice services. The event, held February 25, 2017, at Black Oak Casino Resort, featured guest chefs and local physicians Jeremiah Fillo, MD, and Maryal Concepcion, MD, who presented a cooking demonstration. The fun-filled evening also included a silent auction and raffle.
“Dinner with a Doc was a fabulous event yet again,” stated Director of Physician Talent Acquisition, Kathrina McRee. “The success of this event is because of ongoing community support. We are very grateful for the support of a generous community and our sponsors – Sierra Emergency Medical Group, Dr. Fred Shield and Susan Shield, Berkshire Hathaway Home Services, Roger and Judy Haughton, Ron and Anne Jacobs, Black Oak Casino Resort, Adventist Health, and an anonymous donor.”
Hospice of the Sierra treats the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of patients who are no longer receiving curative treatment, by providing support and comfort care in their homes or home-like settings. Hospice works with a team of health-care professionals, volunteers and the patient’s family to help the patient make the most of the time they have.
