Tennis Players Encouraged To Enter MACTA’s Round Robin Tennis Tournament

Murphys, CA…Tennis players from throughout the Motherlode are invited to sign up for the Murphys Area Community Tennis Association (MACTA) men’s and women’s round robin tournament to be held Saturday, April 8 at Bret Harte High School, in Angels Camp, and MACTA’s Wintercreek Facility located behind the historic schoolhouse on Jones St. in Murphys. Because registration is limited to 24 men and 24 women those interested in taking part are encouraged to register as soon as possible.

The tournament is open to all players 16 and older. Tennis enthusiasts can register by contacting the tournament director Angela Woods at 728-2497. She will make the court assignments.

The women’s doubles tournament will be at both locations from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. with the finals scheduled for 12:15 p.m. at the Murphys courts.

The men’s tournament, at both locations, will begin at 1 p.m. and continue until 3:30 p.m. The 4 p.m. finals will be in Murphys.

The entry fee is $25 per player, for MACTA members, and $30 for non-members. Included in the price is a noontime lunch at the Wintercreek facility. Non-players wishing to have lunch will be charged $10. Beer and wine will be available for a suggested donation of $10.

The event is a fundraiser to help MACTA maintain the Wintercreek Facility and to continue to promote tennis in Murphys and the surrounding communities.

MACTA was formed in the autumn of 2010 to channel the interests and efforts of the many tennis players in the greater Murphys area. It is a community tennis association affiliated with the United States Tennis Association (USTA) and has 501(c) 3 non-profit status.

MACTA is designed to welcome tennis players of all ages and all skill levels. Anyone wishing to join can do so by making an annual donation of at least $25. Contributions can be sent to PO Box 344, Murphys CA 95247.
