Monthly Spotlight: Frog Jump Committee

Angels Camp, CA…What makes the Calaveras County Fair unique and different from all the other county fairs across the Nation. It is this crazy little thing we do called a frog jump. Mark Twain wrote a short story called the Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County and ever since we have been frog focused in Calaveras County.

Annually thousands of people gather the 3rd weekend in May to jump a frog at the county fair. This does not happen by itself. A dedicated group of individuals meet monthly to plan the frog jumping events at the Jubilee. The competition, the care and handling of the frogs, judges, entry takers, markers and much more is facilitated by the Frog Jump committee. Would you like to be part of the historic event? Just call the fairgrounds at 209.736.2561. Thank you Frog Jump Committee for your hard work and dedication.
