Angels Camp, CA…On April 30, 2017 at 1615 hours, officers from the San Andreas Area CHP were dispatched to a traffic collision on SR-49, south of Red Hill Road.  The traffic collision involved a single motorcycle, and resulted in a fatality.  The motorcyclist was passing other traffic while traveling southbound in the northbound lane at an estimated speed of 60 MPH when he lost control.  The motorcycle left the roadway, and overturned several times, ejecting the driver  Despite the efforts of passersby and responding emergency personnel, the driver sustained fatal injuries, and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The driver was wearing a non-DOT approved helmet at the time of the collision.  Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor to this collision.  The investigation is ongoing.
