Arnold, CA…Representatives from CalOES and FEMA met today for three and one half hours with Calaveras County regarding 2017 Storm Damage Recovery. Countywide damages are estimated near 6 Million Dollars. Public Works Director Jeff Crovitz and staff made detailed power point presentations on each damaged location.
While we had been hopeful that today’s meeting would result in an ‘approval’ for the temporary bridge at Blagen Road, we were told by both CalOES and FEMA that the decision regarding the Temporary Bridge would have to be made by their Superiors. FEMA and CalOES Meetings on Blagen Road will occur on May 12 with results and time frames to follow.
Calaveras County continues to do everything within their power and authority to expedite approval for repairs to all of our storm damaged roads maximizing CalOES and FEMA grant funding, we will continue to research ways to expedite approvals. I have been in touch with Assemblyman Frank Bigelow and Congressman Tom McClintock for any assistance that they can offer.
We are hopeful that the May 12th FEMA Cal OES meeting will result in an a positive decision for the temporary Blagen Road Bridge.
