Arnold, CA…Last evening the White Pines Park Committee, Members of the Ebbetts Pass Moose Lodge, Public Works Director Jeff Crovitz, Calaveras Supervisor Michael Oliveira, CCWD’s Bertha Underhill & others met at EPFD Station One to discuss the progress on repairing storm damage to Blagen Road that has kept the Moose Lodge closed and blocked access to much of the parking and areas around White Pines Lake since the February storms.
The county has diligently been working to secure upfront funding from FEMA and other sources to help the county pay for the over $5,000,000 in damages to our local infrastructure caused by the winter storms. It is still likely and probable that this funding will come through eventually but as of this week it became apparent the funding would not be secured externally in time to get a temporary bridge in place to help White Pines Park and the Moose Lodge to be able to return to full operations in a timely manner.
Last evening the exhaustive efforts were summarized and now it is time to move onto plan B where the county will self fund the repairs and seek reimbursement later. Estimated costs are $150,000 for the temporary repairs. This will consist of approximately $75,000 for the bridge & $75,000 in construction costs for it’s placement.
This will be agendized for the next Calaveas Board of Supervisors Meeting. Above is complete video of the meeting.
